Founding Fathers!

The week before and the week of July 4th is going to be REALLY hectic around here. The second Founding Fathers story (Issue #22, The German Warrior!) is coming soon, and I really hope it goes well, because it looks to be pretty fun. It'll have a Hessian who, in proper FF style, is absolutely nothing like the proper ones of history.

Check back in EVERY DAY, as I hope to have a comic for you throughout this period, with two framing Gary comics as with last year.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'd best get back to drawing.

Slight update delay...

I haven't been able to get today's comic done, but as has happened in the past (oddly enough without explanation) I will get it finished as soon as possible when I wake up tomorrow.

Hopefully I can progress to Friday's later in the night. I hate being late to update.

Gary the Alchemist: Year Two

Whew, so much has happened in a year. Just look at this comic compared to the very first one. His head fits better! Yay!

I don't have anything planned for tomorrow (which marks the day of the first comic), but I hope you can settle for a re-visitation of a theme that bothers me a lot.

I should probably make a new icon, now that Gary's gotten a haircut. I'll think of something, I guess. Later. When my brain is actually working.

I'm thinking of making new pages though. If I can get myself motivated, I'll introduce a Character Page and a Fanart page (since I have a few fanarts, and I like them).

Now that I'm thinking of it, I should do the same for Melody & Macabre. Just because it needs some love and attention. I hate feeling like I abandoned a series people actually liked.

July 4th

So, here in America we have a holiday to celebrate our independence from our genial overlords across the pond. It's known as Independence Day, but just about every country has one nowadays, so we usually just call it by the date on which it occurs - July 4th.

In honor of our nation's birthday, I've decided to take a detour from Gary the Alchemist for about... two weeks... as we delve into an in-universe series oddly enough written by someone with a similar name to the author of this webcomic. If that means I'm now an in-universe character, then... I guess that's something. Needless to say, I hope Gary never meets that guy. He's probably a jerk anyway.

I gotta be honest, I expected to have a week off either last week or this week, but now here I am, drawing something way too complex for my skills, testing the limits of my ability to draw, as well as my patience.

And it's exciting as hell.

Remix

So, when I originally started this series, I'd thought that it would be a mixture of ordinary, day-to-day life, mixed in with bizarre fantasy situations that Gary experiences in his lab.

I haven't gotten much of those so far.

So, what I'm going to do is rectify this problem. Starting now, I'll have less boring storylines. I hope.

I'll still have some everyday stuff, since it's kinda what makes it all work, but Gary isn't just a kid in high school! He's an alchemist, dammit!

Oh, sweet!

Smack Jeeves added a Chapters feature! That gives me an opportunity to sort by semester.

What should I be doing for summer and holiday vacations...?

Hope everybody's enjoying themselves.

I'm really hoping I can keep this up without any stops, for four years... but I may need to take breaks. In that event, I REALLY hope I can get back to doing a comic a day.

I'm also hoping I can rebuild my fanbase. I think I lost a few readers after Mel&Mac. Hm.

(I swear, you guys, nothing bad is gonna happen to these characters.)

And here we go again!

So, my first comic of the new big series. I'm excited, though the first page was a bit hectic. I was trying new techniques, and... well, I have a headache now. I had to redraw and recolor multiple times, because I didn't like what I was doing, and what I should have had finished LAST week was a last-minute finish.

It's all good though.

So! Gary the Alchemist will be a bit more lax than my previous project, Melody & Macabre. While I hope to update every week until completion, it will only have three comics a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays), making it all-in-all a lot easier for me to have a life.

I hope.

Hope you kids have fun with this, it'll be a nice change of pace.
